FE Exam Day Checklist: What to Confirm Before Your Appointment
Exam-day readiness is mostly operational: arrive with the correct identification, understand the current testing rules, know your approved calculator, and remove avoidable decisions from the morning of the appointment.
One week before
Use the final week to confirm logistics and stabilize your routine rather than add an entirely new subject.
- Recheck the appointment date, time, address, and arrival instructions.
- Verify current identification and calculator rules with the exam provider.
- Complete a timed mixed set and review every miss.
- Practice searching the current FE Reference Handbook PDF.
The day before
Stop heavy study early enough to protect sleep. Prepare the permitted items you need, plan transportation and parking, and set more than one alarm if the appointment is in the morning.
- Charge permitted devices only if current rules allow them.
- Pack identification and approved calculator.
- Choose food and clothing that match a long testing appointment.
During the exam
Use a first-pass rule: answer questions you can solve efficiently, flag uncertain items, and protect time for review. When a result looks unreasonable, check units and magnitude before rebuilding the entire solution.
Follow the break and testing-center procedures shown in your current examinee guide. This checklist is a planning aid, not a replacement for those rules.
Build the plan from your own baseline
A diagnostic cannot predict your result, but it can show which topic is the best next use of your study time.
